About

At Sherry Guitars, we welcome an ongoing conversation with the customer. Collaboration between customer and designer allows for a guitar to become more than just a tool for musicians. They are a work of art that showcases the complexity of design, craftsmanship, and engineering both functionally and acoustically.

Beginning in 2001, Sherry Guitars has been using high quality materials and hardware to put together guitars with a personal level of design and craftsmanship. Using meticulous precision, Paul uses FSC certified sustainably harvested kiln dried woods from domestic and international sources to create a balanced tone that is tailored for each customer. High-quality hardware and parts complete the guitar and can be counted on for excellence and durability. A one-man workshop, located in Knoxville, Tennessee, Sherry Guitars are made one at a time allowing for individualized focus and creativity.

Music and creativity have been a part of Paul’s family heritage for multiple generations. His grandparents, a jazz clarinetist and pianist, were musicians providing arrangements for jazz greats Tex Ritter and Benny Goodman.  His mother created and designed in the world of theater. And his father was a designer and professor of scenic design. As he learned to play the guitar at age 10, he not only shared his family’s love of music, but saw a place to blend art and music through guitar design and construction. Under the guidance of his father, he learned the multi discipline approach to design and fabrication as he began to customize his own guitars. While studying both music and art in college, Paul continued to see the blend of music and design while doing refinishing and repair work on both guitars and furniture. All of this heritage, combined with his experience in forensic engineering, have given him the vision on how to create custom guitars the way he wanted them to be.

Guitars require deep and diverse skillsets in a variety of disciplines—woodworking, finishing, design and machining. Sherry Guitars has married these various skills with an intense focus, passion dedication, and perfection for guitar construction.
